30 schools constructed in Uruzgan
TIRINKOT (PAN): Education department officials of southern Uruzgan province said that during the current year some religious seminaries have been established and 30 school buildings have been constructed. They also said that 60 students will be awarded scholarships to study in India. Haji Eid Muhammad Khan, administrative deputy of the province told Pajhwok Afghan news that 60 students are learning English language in Kabul city. He said technical consultant has provided huge support in preparing the list and selecting 60 students through tests and interviews from all over the province. He added technical consultants have provided trainings to the staff which has helped the department to get some projects. Eid Muhammad said that the 60 students will get education in India with financial support of Netherlands. He said 10 students were recruited from each district. He added that with the education of these people the problem of professional staff in the province will be resolved. He said that the education department receives regular reports from the district education offices. He added: "in the past the reporting system was not organized, but now with the support of technical consultants, the work of a week is completed in hours" He said in the past post couriers could take six months to send a report and a year back post courier was killed by Taliban on the way to Kabul. He said the administrative work has been organized and there have been a lot of improvement and some of the projects have been completed. As example he said the construction of over 30 schools and establishment of religious seminary in each district as the achievement of the department. He added the projects are regularly monitored by the department. Eid Muhamamd said the technical consultant has prepared several proposals and sent them to the donors, one of the proposals was the teacher's training programme which has been approved and the project is underway in Tarinkot city. USAID has appointed technical consultants to some departments in the provinces with support of LGCD to improve and properly organize the official work.
