Intrigues of destabilising Pakistan
Zain Waqar
Intensity of terror attacks in major cities of Pakistan, targeting security installations and security personnel shows that India has intensified its campaign of destabilizing Pakistan. Besides other cities, Peshawar has been facing suicide attacks on regular basis. Even women and children are not being spared. Pakistan’s civil and military officials have repeatedly pointed out Indian support to the militants in Frontier Province and Balochistan. Army spokesman Athar Abbas has revealed recently that during the ongoing operations in South Waziristan, huge cache of Indian-made arms and ammunition have been captured. As regards Indian backing to subversive designs in Balochistan, on November 14, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani remarked in relation to the evidence about Indian involvement in the province that the issue had been taken up during his meeting with the Indian prime minister at Sharm El-Sheikh and was made part of the joint statement issued thereafter. He further added: “The evidence will be presented at a suitable time.” On September 20, this year, American General Stanley McChrystal who is in-charge of the war against Taliban militants in Afghanistan admitted in ‘Commander’s Initial Assessment’ on the Afghan war saying: “Indian political and economic influence is increasing in Afghanistan which is likely to exacerbate regional tensions.” Janes intelligence information group has also revealed in the recent past that RAW and Mossad have created new secret agencies to infiltrate in Pakistan and conduct bomb blasts in trains, bus stands, hotels and mosques of rival Islamic sects. These spy agencies have created unrest in Pakistan on massive scale. Taking advantage of the heavy terrain across Pak-Afghan border, penetration of foreign agents’ alongwith sophisticated weaponry in FATA and Balochistan has become a routine matter. Apart from ground realties, some other evidence also indicates Indian scheme against Pakistan. An article, published in the “Indian Defence Review” Vol 23.1 Jan-Mar 09 under the caption: “Stable Pakistan not in India’s Interest” written by its editor, Bharat Verma admitted Indian future plan regarding Pakistan. The Review which is considered official voice of New Delhi’s policies, while taking cognizance of the ongoing unrest in Pakistan, Kashmir and Afghanistan suggested “the disintegration of Pakistan will better serve Indian interest in the region. India Defence Review explained, “With Pakistan on the brink of collapse, it is matter of time before it ceases to exist…multiple benefits will accrue to India on such demise.” It maintained, “In either case Balochistan will achieve independence. For New Delhi, this opens a window of opportunity to ensure that the Gwadar port does not fall into the hands of the Chinese. Our existing goodwill in Balochistan requires intelligent leveraging. Sindh and most of the non-Punjabi areas of Pakistan will be our new friends…Afghanistan will gain fair amount of stability. India’s access to Central Asian energy routes will open up.” The Review further states, “At the same time, it is prudent to extend moral support to the people of Tibet to sink Chinese expansionism in the chaos of insurgency…cessation of Pakistan as a state facilitates furtherance of this pivotal national objective.” This analysis of the Indian Defence Review cannot be seen in isolation as it reflects official admission of New Delhi that insurgency in Pakistan’s tribal areas, separatism in Balochistan including a number of acts of sabotage all over the country such as suicide attacks, bomb blasts, sectarian violence, kidnappings and killings have continuously been supported by the Indian intelligence agency RAW. Frustrated in isolating Pakistan diplomatically in the comity of nations by showing official involvement of Islamabad in relation to the Mumbai carnage through RAW-created bogus evidence, India has intensified its efforts to create lawlessness in Pakistan. By taking advantage of War on Terror, Indian RAW has become pro-active to arrange any terrorist event in Pakistan or India with the help of Indian-home grown insurgents and to manipulate the same against Islamabad. The fact of the matter is that while weakening Pakistan as part of its unfinished agenda, New Delhi even does not realise the fact that non-state actors, popularly called militants have connections with each other from Kabul to New Delhi and from Lahore to the Indian occupied Kashmir, including Central Asian Republics.
