Kausar on Fata budget

Education gets Rs3.75b out of Rs15b outlay

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar said it is encouraging to say that Government is continuously working on development projects in tribal areas in spite of severe law and order situation.
He said this while presiding over a meeting in which a presentation was given on Fata budget for the year 2012-13 by Additional Chief Secretary at Governor's House Peshawar, last Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Chief Executive FDA and Secretary Finance for Fata.
He said health and education besides employment generation should be given preference in the tribal areas.
The Governor was briefed in presentation that out of total Rs15 billion for Fata Annual Development Programme, 25% were allocated for education. 11% for health, 24% for communication, 3% for agriculture, 2.20 for energy, 7% for irrigation, 1.60% for live stock, 4% for forest, 1.40% for rural development, 1.30% for housing, 0.6% for technical education. 0.4% for social welfare, 12% for regional development and 6.50% for PHA were allocated in ADP for FATA.
An Islamia College University in Sadda Parra Chinar, besides a Fata University in FR Kohat, will be established; development schemes for Fata consists of Feasibility Study for Regional Investment Bank, cement plant in FR D.I Khan, completion of Marble City, further research for oil and gas exploration, establishment of model live stock farms and many other development project in different fields of life.
The Governor was told that a satellite monitoring system will be setup to check the proper use of development funds.
Speaking on the occasion, The Governor said that preference should be given to those project which generate revenue and resources for Fata. He said that a meeting will be called after every three month to check the proper utilization of funds and speed of developmental projects. He further said that we should present the real image of tribal people as a progressive nation with a lot of skills and intellectual worth.
