Every now and then we read about acid attacks on innocent persons by schizophrenics. The architects of destruction have not learnt any lesson even after promulgation of law against the heinous crime. In a recent case, in Lahore, a motorcycle mechanic threw acid on her teenager cousin for refusing her proposal. In the gruesome act, a four and half month niece along with attacker’s father also received burn injuries. The ugliest part of the incident is that why acid sale is so open that everybody can buy it for few bucks to deface people and make their lives unlivable.Media campaign as well as efforts at government level to apply restraints on sale/purchase of disastrous chemicals should be banned.The easy availability of this poisonous material has put a question mark against government’s endeavours to check such instances. Acid attacks have become serious threats for those females who refuse the proposals of fanatic men. Resultantly, these mental-midgets go to the last extent in humiliating the girls who reject them. In a society where legal proceedings bend the back of well-off people, what to talk of those belonging to middle & lower-middle class?Awareness in people is the need of the hour to curb this nuisance from society and save innocent girls from criminal minded people.
