Stoner grabs Assen pole

After qualifying had been ruined by rain, the riders took to the track for the last five minutes of the session, with Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo well clear of the chasing pack after their early pace-setting laps.
But Stoner, who had offered little all week, rode aggressively and somewhat riskily on the wet track to surge half a second ahead of Pedrosa, his time of 1:33.713 unassailable as the Spanish duo tried in vain with flying last laps.
