Govt takes steps to overcome energy shortage: Azmat

Addressing a public gathering here in Lower Dir, the minister said that the problem of load-shedding was inherited by the government from the past and now the PPP government has taken this issue on priority basis.
He said scheduled load-shedding are being held. The minister said that load-shedding hours in rural areas were also reduced due to effective load management policy.
He said the people would see major decrease in load-shedding in month.
Malik Azmat said that energy sector has now come under the provincial government due to 18th amendment and it was also the responsibility of provincial governments to initiate dams projects. He said that God has bestowed rich potential to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for construction of water reservoirs that's need to be fully tapped.
He appreciated the steps taken by the KP government for starting small power projects in Chitral and Swat districts that would make positive impact on the energy situation and will address the menace of energy crisis with great extent.
On this occasion, the minister inaugurated the Ramyal PCC road. He said that gas facility has been provided to maximum areas of his constituency that will boost up trade and economic activities in Lower Dir beside generating employment opportunities.
Earlier, the minister went to Shalunday hospital that was destroyed during Malakand unrest and inspected the repair work and assured to solve the civic problems of the hospitals. The minister on this occasion, also appreciated the role of people of lower Dir and Malakand for maintenance of peace and law and order.
Influential family of Chakdara joins PPP: An influential family of Chakdara having affiliation with the Awami National Party for the last 28 years parted ways with the party and announced to join the Pakistan People Party. The family of late Shal Khan joined the party during a function held at the hujra of Shahi Room Khan at Chakdara on Tuesday.
The PPP senator Ahmad Hassan Khan, MPA Dr Zakirullah Khan, Haji Nawab and other local PPP leaders addressed the function while Shahi Room Khan and his brothers Fakhr Alam Khan, Muhammad Alam Khan, Sultan Room Khan and Aftab Alam announced to quit the ANP and join the PPP.
Addressing the function Shahi Room Khan and Sultan Room Khan said that they remained part of the ANP for the last 28 years during which their family always gave sacrifices for the party. They said they were disappointed when the ANP came in powers after the 2008 election. They said that workers were ignored by party leadership on every level. After disappointment, they said they decided to quit that party.
