CM gives Rs3m to heirs of each cop martyred in Ichra tragedy

Nisar Gul promises jobs for family members of victims

Peshawar (Online): Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti distributed compensation cheques worth Rs3 million among heirs of each martyred personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prison Department who embraced martyrdom in Ichra (Lahore) incident, during a simple but revered gathering at CM House on Tuesday.
Collective prayers were offered for peace in heaven of martyrs, patience for the bereaved and speedy health to the injured. Provincial Prison Minister Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, Home Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan, IG Prisons Khalid Abbas, President ANP District Karak Usman Gul Khattak and heirs of Shuhadas were also present on the occasion.
The CM expressed solidarity with affected families and said that millions rupees can't even substitute human life. He said that as the martyrs of Lahore incident hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby every possible assistance their family is the responsibility of the provincial government.
He said that we wished joint funeral prayers of the entire martyrs, which did not become possible due to delayed handing over of the bodies. He said that discussion on irresponsibility of certain government officials were made with the Punjab government and Punjab promised for action against personnel found guilty after thorough inquiry on the matter, added, one officer has been transferred in this connection.
The CM said that the present government has not only increased the compensation amount to martyrs who embraced martyrdom in the live of duty but also taken practical steps for swift payment of the compensation. Regarding Risk Allowance, the CM directed Home and Finance Department review on facilities in other provinces and submission of report. He also directed for review on financial assistance to injured of the incident.
Provincial Prison Minister, Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel expressed sorrow over the delay in shifting of the dead bodies and stressed the need for steps to control such incident in future. He announced employment in the department for legal heirs of shuhada and said the prisons department will not let the bereaved family alone in this hour of trial.
The IG Prisons, Khalid Abbas on detail of the incident said that as the incident occurred in Punjab, its government must also pay compensation to martyrs. He requested CM for Risk allowance to employees of the department.
Earlier, the CM distributed compensation cheques worth Rs. 27 million among affected families. Those received cheques included heirs of the shuhada Qamar Zaman, Muhammad Fayaz, Azmat Janan, Khudai Noor from Karak, Sardar Ali and Muhammad Asif from Mardan, Shafqat Rizwan from D.I.Khan, Sharif-ud-din from chitral and Muhammad Ali from Charsadda.
