Tribals advised to get children vaccinated Three-day anti-polio drive launched

BAJAUR AGENCY: Tribal elders, Ulema and official of the administration of the agency have appealed the tribesmen to vaccinate their children against polio and warned of strict action those who could found involved in anti-vaccination activities in the region.
The announcement was made during the launching ceremony of the three days anti polio drive here at Khar. Large numbers of tribal elders , members of different peace committees, political and social workers , official of the administration and the health deportment were attend the ceremony .
Addressing the ceremony the agency surgeon Dr Jehanzeb Dawar said the government was committed to eradicating polio from the agency because the poliovirus become a serious threats to the health of the children.
He said that eradication of polio from the country was a challenge for the government as well as of its people because Pakistan was among the three countries only where polio is still exists.
Although Pakistan was a civilized and responsible sate in the world but unfortunately the polio has badly suffering the country dignity in the international community," he said.
He appealed the elders, Ulema and the tribesmen to continue complete cooperation with the health deportment in the anti polio drive.
He said that the agency would soon declare a polio free region and adding that the agency has been secured from the disease since April 2011. "If such efforts could continue the polio diseased would be eliminated forever from the agency before the end of this year," Dawar claimed.
Abdul Haseeb Khan, a senior official of the local administration said that the administration was very concerned about the polio incidence in the agency and was making all possible efforts for the early eradication of the crippling disease from the region.
He urged the tribal elders to continue cooperation with the administration in the vaccination drive in their respective areas. Senior religious leader and Chief Khatib, Maulana Maufti Hanifullah Jan, Maulana Mohammad Idress , President PMLN Bajaur Haji Rahat Yousaf , President All Bajaur Political parties alliance (Bajaur Siasi Ithihad) and several notable pro government elders were also spook the ceremony.
"We always supporting the anti polio drive in the agency and no one would be allowed to interrupt the immunization campaigns," they said adding that the person who could found for the anti activities against the vaccination would be handling with exemplary action.
Later the agency surgeon inaugurated the three day anti polio campaign which will be begin from July16 (Monday).
During the campaign 220037childrens age of five would be vaccinated while six hundreds team has been formed for the campaign.
