MNA, MPA discuss measures to deal with profiteers

HYDERABAD: Modalities to remove heap of garbage, ensure cleanliness and take action against illegal profiteers were discussed in a meeting conducted by MNA Syed Salahuddin and MPA Akram Adil with the officers of district administration and other line departments here at the office of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) last evening.
Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar, Additional Commissioner-II Abid Saleem Qureshi, Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency Saleemuddin, Executive Engineer Irrigation Mubin Abbasi and Municipal Commissioner Azhar Qadir Memon among others and took part in the deliberation.
Addressing the meeting, MNA Syed Salahuddin said that since distribution of new budget was passing from transaction period which created some difficulties for the Municipal Administration. He asked the authorities for early release of fund so that routine work of cleanliness could not be suffered. He said that the main motto of his party was to serve the people without any discrimination and do its best to provide relief to the citizens during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.
He directed the officers to be more vigilant and take strict action against the illegal profiteers.
He asked the officer of HMC to prepare contingency plan for converting the Hyderabad City into clean and beautiful. The Deputy Commissioner while briefing the meeting said that all arrangements have been made by District Administration to provide kitchen items to the citizens on cheaper and reasonable rates.
He informed that 35 flour stalls have been opened to provide 10 Kg flour bags at the subsidized rate of Rs 230/- at different places whereas all the Revenue officers have been placed at the markets to ensure supply of kitchen items to consumers at the fixed rates.
He said that checking of prices is being made on daily basis by which many defaulters either have been imprisoned or fined.
In addition to that, he informed that the Revenue officers are also taking the matter of cleanliness and hopefully the same would be completed within shortest possible time with the consultation and cooperation of Municipal authorities. He made it clear that district administration is also preparing to cope with forthcoming monsoon with success. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner directed to all Taluka Municipal administrators to prepare their contingency plan for cleanliness in their respective areas and ensure that all the heaps of garbage, hurdles in traffic flow and encroachments of sewerage lines are removed.
