LAHORE: A delegation of Indian experts in generation of electricity from biomass met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today. Matters regarding production of electricity from biomass were discussed during the meeting.
Talking to Indian delegation, the Chief Minister said that there are vast opportunities of generating electricity from biomass and electricity can be produced in abundance from one crore tone agriculture waste in the province.
He directed the concerned authorities that the projects of generating electricity from biomass should be expedited. He said that the mapping with regard to biomass of the whole province be conducted.
He said that work should immediately be started for setting up projects at five feasible sites including Chak Jhumra.
He warned that no delay in the implementation of biomass projects will be tolerated.
Indian experts assured that cooperation will be extended to Punjab government in establishing energy projects based on biomass. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farukh Javed, Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Faisalabad, Secretary Agriculture and Indian experts Mr. Pawanpreet Singh Badal, Mr. Suwappan Dutta and others were present on the occasion.
