Buner: 60,000 more get right to vote in computerized list

BUNER: The district election officer Peer Maqbool has said that about 60000 more voters have got right to vote for the upcoming elections as compared to the last general elections.
The total number of voters registered for the last general elections were 290000 while till dateabout 356000 voters have got themselves registered, he confided.
Briefing media men at his office on Tuesday he said visible increase in voter’s registration recorded in the computerized list. He confirmed that computerizationof the voters list was in the larger interests of both the voters andcandidates as well.
Elaborating his point he added those were unaware of registration process got right to vote based on their country national identity card (CNIC) without facing any trouble and wastage of time. While the same benefits went to candidates who would have to suffer a lot for getting voter registration.
The newly adopted system has minimized miseries of voters and candidates inaddition rush in offices, he argued. He termed the policy economical as bothprecious time and hard earned money saved.
The DEO was unhappy over the tradition of restrictions on female voting due to which sizeable population has been depriving entering into parliamentary democraticprocess. The unjustified and unwise decision of politicians has caused low turnout in elections.
Answering a question he categorically disown any deal with in parties or constants will reach in his presence.
Rather he would materials theset rules for discouraging any move curbing female voting in the upcoming general elections. He asked media men to use pen for creation awareness among voters so they revolt against unlawful agreements.
He was hopeful of changes inthe near future when voters would come out for costing vote according to ownfree will.
