ISLAMABAD (APP): Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) has recently embarked upon some new initiatives for the development of science culture in the country and has established 500 science clubs in high schools.
PSF is making all out efforts to take science to the grass root level of the society so that science can be understood through practical models and inquiry-based approach.
Talking to APP, Spokesperson PSF Rehana Batool said despite limited resources, phase-wise establishment of Science Clubs network in all the districts of Pakistan is on the cards.
She said initially contacts will be established with heads of educational institutions and science teachers to take them on board for initiating inquiry-based learning of science and gradually science clubs will be established.
Rehana Batool said PSF arranges monthly workshops for science teachers to promote inquiry-based science learning. These workshops are arranged on equal basis in all the provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The target areas and districts are the remote areas having less exposure about modern educational tools.
“We also print material, especially posters on inquiry-based science learning and motivate teachers for developing experimental materials to teach students. Such printed material is distributed among educational institutions”.
Spokesperson PSF said science exhibitions are also arranged to promote inquiry-based science learning among the students.
To encourage students and teachers, prizes are awarded to them and the best educational institutions, she mentioned.
After consultation with teachers, PSF provides experimental equipment to educational institutions in remote areas in accordance with their Syllabus, she concluded.
