KMC completes 7th fumigation campaign in Karachi

KARACHI (APP): KMC has completed the 7th spray campaign in all 5 DMCs and District Council of Karachi to eradicate the mosquitoes cause malaria and dengue fever.
The campaign was carried out from March to August this year whereas the 8th campaign was underway, said Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan while addressing a meeting held at the start of monsoon season.
He specially asked the citizens to adopt precautionary measures like use of kerosene oil, used mobil oil or lime stone on staying water, use spray and cover doors and windows with nets.
He said that more than 50 vehicles were carrying out spray campaign in whole city which have been provided to each Union Council as per requirement of the area.
He also said that KMC was carrying out spray campaign with the collaboration of all DMCs. Matanat Ali Khan said that citizens can also lodge their complaints on our helpline number 1339 which would be resolved on priority basis.
Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan said that KMC has also prepared a squad consisting motor cycles which would also be used for spray campaign in the areas where vehicles can not reach.
He also said that KMC was also starting an awareness campaign in which pamphlets, leaf lets and broachers would be distributed, big sign boards and cable operators would be used, all DMCs would arrange a walk in this regard, whereas KMC would arrange special lectures in different schools regarding awareness campaign.
Sr. Director Municipal Services Dr. Shaukat Zaman said that 42 cases have been reported in health department from which 28 have been resolved.
He also said that it is directed to tyre puncture shop owners to change water of their tanks on daily basis to stop growth of mosquitoes and guppy fishes would also be put in different swimming pools to execute mosquitoes' larvae.
