Shahbaz announces waiving of fees for blind students

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that special persons ought to be given all those rights which are available to other members of the society. Announcing waiving of fees for blind students in schools and colleges, he directed Special Education Department to ensure its prompt implementation. He said that quota allocated by Punjab government for special persons for recruitment in government service would be strictly implemented.
Punjab Chief Minister was talking to a representative delegation of Blind Association at camp office, here today. He said that special persons can be included in the mainstream of progress by extending them necessary encouragement. The Chief Minister assured a deaf and dumb tennis player Tahir that he would be provided a government job. Meanwhile, complainants belonging to various districts of Punjab also met the Chief Minister and apprised him of their problems.
On an application by a poor woman Zahra Bibi, the Chief Minister ordered provision of financial assistance of five lakh rupees. The Chief Minister ordered initiation of action against police officials for not arresting the culprits and showing laxity in the investigation into the case of murder of 20 years old daughter of one Ghulam Rasool of Hujra Shah Muqeem during a dacoity attempt. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif ordered DPO Okara to submit progress report on the case within 48 hours.
The Chief Minister also ordered RPO Skeikhupura to investigate into the causes behind slow pace of investigation into murders of a mother and a daughter at Faisalabad. On a complaint by one Muhammad Arshad of Nankana Sahib, the Chief Minister ordered immediate arrest of all culprits involved in the murder of his brother. Ordering immediate arrest of a culprit involved in the abduction of daughter of Nargis Bibi of Sheikhupura who absconded to Dubai, the Chief Minister directed that a fresh inquiry be conducted into the case.
The Chief Minter sought a report into a firing case in which a young man Khurram was killed at Samanabad and assured the mother of the deceased of provision of early justice.
Talking to the complainants, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that it is the duty of police to provide immediate help and assistance to the people and those police officers who cannot provide justice and assistance to the masses have no right to remain on their posts at all. He said that police ought to work as a true servant of the masses as it is the foremost responsibility of the police force to protect life and property of the citizens.
The Chief Minister directed police authorities to fulfill all requirements of justice during the investigation of cases. He directed that assistance should also be sought from the intelligence network for arresting the culprits along with improving the standard of investigation of cases, so that the culprits can be awarded exemplary punishment by the court of law. Members Assembly |Pervaiz Malik, Hafiz Mian Muhamamd Nauman and concerned police authorities were also present on the occasion.
