LAHORE: Punjab government is politicizing educational institutions' environment in the pretext of Anti-Dengue campaign as audiences has been told more about Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) achievements rather about dengue controlling measures.
Official sources seeking anonymity from the School Education Department (SED) and Higher Education Department (HED) told The Frontier Post here on Thursday that a number of complains has been received in SED and HED about Punjab government's representatives malafied intentions for politicizing environment in different universities, colleges and schools, in the pretext of dengue awareness campaign.
They said that government has done it noiselessly as Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Member Provincial Assembly (MNAs), managerial officials of various departments and advisors to CM who have been participating in dengue awareness campaign appraised PML-N in front of students and staff and also criticized other political parties particularity Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
"This is how they are politicizing environment in educational institutions which are supposed to exist independent of any political party influence", they mentioned.
They also said that such activities of Punjab government representatives have created confusion among faculty and staff members of education institutes as some take it as a privilege while other consider it a dispossession of their respect. This has happened as naturally members at education institutions have had their associations and, liking and disliking of political parties. "But it is really unfortunate that people who were apparently doing a noble deed could not prevent committing a severe damage to education sector", they said.
They vowed that government representatives, while visiting institutions spent more time in appreciating Mian brothers rather disseminating information necessary to make listeners aware of dengue disease. "Universities, colleges and schools welcomed Punjab government initiative to stop dengue disease owing to huge colossal lose of life that it brought last year in Lahore and Punjab, but such misrepresentation has really discouraged the majority of audiences" they added.
They asked government to put whole community and political parties on the same page in campaign against dengue and this might prove a long term reunion of all segments of society even to get control over other disputes that society has been confronting.
While, In Charge of Dengue Control Cell Khawaja Salman Rafique was not available for comments despite contacting several times.
