LAHORE: Various religious and political parties strongly condemned the brutal killing of fifteen people due to violent protests in different cities of the country on 'Ishq Rasool Day' and termed it against the spirit of the cause for which the national holyday was announced.
Leaders of different political and religious parties said it was owing to some elements who in fact wanted to harm the cause of this day marked against sacrilegious movie released by a pastor in America.
Talking to the Frontier Post on Friday Tahafaz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Mahaz (TNRM) President Maulana Raza-e-Mustafa Naqshbandi said the killing of innocent people including a police officer was totally against the spirit of this day 'Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool' and also against the teachings of the Holy Prophet peace be upon him.
'The call in Lahore was by the parties of Ahlesunnat as compared with Islamabad and Karachi and that is no violence was reported there' he opined. He stated that it might be possible that some elements had attacked on them and looted money from various banks just for their malicious designs and to harm the country. Sunni Itehad Council (SIC) Pakistan Chairman Sahibzada Fazl Kareem said those who involved in destroying property of the citizens and killing innocent people had not connection with them and they strongly condemned the action of these elements. He directed his party workers to be remained calm and not to be violent at any cost.
Sunni Itihad Council took its rally out from Nasir Bagh to Punjab Assembly and chanted slogans against movie makers.
Jamat-e-Islami Ameer Munawwar Hassan on this occasion stressed upon the Muslim rulers to stop the advocacy of the US and the west, and instead present themselves as representatives of Islam and the Holy Prophet. However, he also asked the Muslims to be calm in the protests against Anti-Islam Movie.
Hassan said if President Zardari and the federal cabinet had come on roads in protest against the blasphemous film, the people would not have gone out of control. The cowardice of the rulers and their slavery of the west was the prime reason of the public wrath in this respect, he added.
He further said that the west had already been defeated by Islam in the fields of academics and culture and was left with no argument. Therefore, it was trying to thrust its satanic civilization on the world by force and all those who challenged it were being attacked on frivolous charges.
He said, the indifference of the Muslim rulers in the present situation was most shameful. Slating the west's inaction against the blasphemers on the plea of freedom of expression, the JI Ameer said the west had double standards. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Women wing also staged protest demonstration but without being violent. The members and ex office bearers came out to protest against the blasphemous movie on the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and urged the government to mobilize Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).
"We, PTI women office bearers have come out to protest against the blatant hatred against our Prophet, but we think this is not enough. We believe that the best place to hit the Americans is by boycotting all their products" said the protestor women. The overall situation of protests in Lahore was very peaceful and protestors did not intend toward looting and destroying properties and killing people as compared to other cities of the country like Rawalpindi and Karachi where people not only looted the banks, set cinemas to fire and killed innocent people.
