Children, families also take part in protest against anti-Islam movie

LAHORE: People from different fields of life and age including families and children also took part in the protest against anti-Islam movie and demanded of the government to relinquish its bilateral relations with US here on Friday.
Large number of people came out from their homes and chanted slogans against all those responsible in making and spreading movie all over the world that hurt the feeling of Muslims at large.
Children, families reached on Mall road-the main road of the provincial metropolitan city and were holding banners and placards. Battle like situation was observed on Mall when furious clashes were seen between police and the protestors. Police had put barriers and heavy containers on the roads in order to stop protestors to reach Punjab Assembly, Governor House and American Consulate.
Most of the rallies reached on Mall after juma prayer and the overall protests' situation was very peaceful. At some places some clashes were seen owing to which some people including police officers injured. Protests were staged in different parts of the city and the biggest gathering was observed on Mall road near Punjab Assembly and the protestors kept struggling to march toward Provincial assembly, Governor House and American Consulate.
Front of Governor House-large number of police constables had been deployed that defended protestors from all three sides of the road. Heavy security arrangements had been made on this special day and mobile service was also suspended.
The protestors were in thousands who became too much emotional and they removed container from their ways and set tyres on fire. They were holding banners and placards and chanted slogans against movie makers and US government. They also burnt the effigy of Terry Jones and American President Barak Obama. On the way, protesters threw with stones and sticks at President Asif Zerdari's portrait and they also burnt the effigy of Terry Jones and Obama-the president of USA. Some protesters also tried to set Lung Fung, a Chinese restaurant, on fire but it was not allowed by others. It is also pertinent to mention here that in the beginning of the day no protest was observed in the city and all it happened after Juma. Protests continued after evening.
