Nine killed in Helmand, Uruzgan

LASHKARGAH/KANDAHAR (AIP): Nine people, including police personnel and armed opponents were killed and seven more injured in separate incidents in Uruzgan and Helmand provinces, officials said Saturday.
The armed opponents attacked a house in Tangi area of Dahrawad district in Uruzgan province last night, killing one Jamal and his son on charges of supporting the government, the provincial police spokesman Farid Aayal told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
In a separate incident, he said three IED planters were killed while the explosives they were trying to plant went of prematurely in Sarmarghab area of Tarinkot City last night. He said a cop was killed while defusing an IED in the same area.
Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi told the AIP their fighters killed two policemen in a bomb blast in Tarinkot City. He claimed four militiamen were killed in an IED blast in Dahrawar district.
In Marjah district of Helmand province yesterday, the police conducted operations, killing two armed opponents, injuring five and arresting five more, a press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) stated. The police did not suffer casualties in the offensive, it added.
However, the Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi told the AIP their fighters did not suffer casualties in Marjah district. He claimed the security forces suffered heavy casualties as a result of fire by Taliban.
In a separate incident, the press release said a minor girl was killed and two more civilians were injured as a result of gunfire by the armed opponents in Nadali district yesterday.
The Taliban have not said anything in this regard till filling or this report. However, they claimed the killing of a cop in an ambush in Nadali district.
The officials have not said anything about the claims of Taliban spokesman so far.
Former district police chief, three guards killed
KABUL (AIP): Unknown gunmen killed a former district police chief and his three guards in Kabul on Saturday.
Residents of the Mirbachakot district told the AIP that the former district police chief, Yardil Nizami, and his three guards were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Daku village of the district. He said a clash had erupted between supports of a former jihadi commander, Amanullah Guzar, and Yardil Nizami some time back, adding that could be cause of the incident.
The deceased Yardil Nizami was currently a member of the local council. He also worked as police chief of Bagrmi and Deh Sabz districts of Kabul province.
Officials have not said anything in this regard so far.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident till filling of this report.
