Four killed in Shikarpur shrine blast

SHIKARPUR: At least four persons were killed and over 12 injured in an explosion near shrine of Hajan Shah of Mari on Monday.
According to media reports, some unknown motorbike-riding attackers hurled a hand grenade at Hajan Ghulam Shah Bukhari Shrine in Lakhi Ghulam Shah Maari area of Shikarpur and fled away.
The Police said that the hand grenade blasted inside the shrine amid a Qawwali gathering, leaving four persons killed on the spot and over one dozen injured.
Syed Hajan Shah, the current caretaker (Gaddi Nasheen) of the shrine, also injured in the blast. The injured and caretaker of the shrine were moved to Civil Hospital for treatment.
The rescue teams and local police rushed to the blast side and started moving the injured to hospitals after cordoning off the area.
Eyewitnesses said that few moments before the blast an unidentified person kept a suspicious bag inside the shrine and moved away. Later on, that bag blasted with loud bang and caused these causalities and other damages. One injured succumbed to injuries in hospital and the death toll mounted to four. It is feared that the death toll may mount further as many injured are in critical condition, said hospital sources. Sind Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Acting Governor, Speaker Nisar Khoro have sternly condemned the blast and vowed to take the culprits involved in the attack to task soon.
