Rehabilitation, uplift in Fata to be simultaneous: Governor

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has said that rehabilitation and development activities, alongside efforts for maintenance of peace in FATA will go ahead simultaneously and the situation, which is far better in this respect as compared to past will further improve with the passage of time.
Talking to two separate delegations of elders, one each from Kurram and Orakzai Agency which called on him at Governor's House, Peshawar on Sunday, the Governor also mentioned launching of natural gas supply project at Darra Adam Khel yesterday and pointed out, "it in fact the first initiative for the entire FATA which will lead to launch of similar schemes for other tribal agencies and frontier regions.  
The delegation from Kurram Agency, comprising elders of Massozai Tribe was led by an ex- MNA, Haji Munir Khan Orakzai particularly requested for providing staff for the Sub-Treasury Office of the State Bank of Pakistan and establishment of a passport office at Sadda while the elders of internally dislocated tribes, hailing from Ghiljo and other areas of Orakzai Agency who are presently housed in Ali Khel, Hangu, Astarzai, Mitha Khel and other parts of Hangu district requested the Governor to help them in getting them properly registered IDPs.  
They also requested to ensure their early repatriation and rehabilitation.  The delegation was led by Mr. Wasi Said and Mr. Laiq Hussain.
Responding to various demands, the Governor said that hectic efforts are underway to further streamline the ongoing arrangements for rehabilitation of the internally dislocated people of FATA and Inshaullah they would find better and amicable circumstances in making revival of their normal life.  
As far as establishment of passport office and provision of staff for the Treasury Office of the State Bank of Pakistan at Sadda of Kurram Agency are concerned, the Governor said that the respective authorities will be approached to create possibility for making this possible at the earliest.
Meanwhile, talking to different delegations of tribal elders and Youth from Bajaur, Momand, Khyber and F.R. Peshawar who also called on him at Governor's House, Peshawar the Governor said that a proposal to strengthen the vocational training institutes working in different tribal agencies, is under the active consideration and it is his utmost effort to enable the youth of FATA to get them equipped with skills in latest technologies.    
Similarly, he added, he has already taken initiative to enhance amount of merit scholarships for the students of higher secondary and higher educational institutions and hopefully formal announcement will be made shortly in this respect.  
Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah, however, also realized the tribal elders and youth that maintenance of peaceful atmosphere is the foremost requirement for making all this possible.  
Besides, he added, peace is also must to ensure smooth conduct of general elections and they must continue their efficient support and cooperation in ensuring achievement of this cherished goal too.
Meanwhile, the tribal elders while talking on this occasion highlighted the prevailing situation with regard to maintenance of peace and launch of development activities in their respective areas and requested the governor to accelerate the process in this respect.
