Thanking higher education

Most of the students who begin with a research programme of study are not known to the directions which should be taken to choose a potential research area. Thus, we notice them spending time readings different areas and ended up with no selection. Indeed, conducting research requires motivation and consistent commitments; otherwise such efforts do not normally reached to a desire objective. It is important to mention that a PhD is a combination of justification that there is a problem and a solution to identified problem. Solution and existence of a problem are completely related with an area of specialization.
Research projects are conducted under the supervision of a senior academic. It is important to mention that research project supervisors have certain limitations. One can expect them assisting in due course, however, there are thing they do and don’t do. They normally meet on an agreed schedule to discuss progress and to give further instructions such as where to move next. What I see here as an essential role of supervisor is examining weather or not all requirements of a research project have full-filled. Please remember, supervisor reputation is at stack if he or she fails to judge weather or not a work is ready for final submission.
There is one of many possibilities available for any one who is not cleared with their research domain. If some one does not know what to do as a part of a research one must collate thoughts to find personal interest. A researcher can always look for some one who is engaged in a similar or related research or read relevant survey papers. In some cases, departments or schools have pre-defined funded projects, thus, if you are appointed to work on it, you have no other choice except to take it as a final research area. Funded projects are assigned to research led academic institutions by various privates and governmental bodies. These projects are advertised and are opened for both individuals and institutions to place a bid for.
An area of specialization is the sub area a researcher selects as a part of research being conducted and is usually emerged from initial research surveys. It is extremely important to have a definite and concrete decision related to an area of specialization. It is not expected from some one to know in depth as to what else have already been proposed, however, a researcher must try to build at-least some understanding of the previous works. Thus, it is necessary to determine weather or not there is really a need to do further work in a potential area. This has always been seen as an important aspect of any research. Since, for some thing which is satisfactory otherwise, might not have a capacity of any further work.
One other aspect of this practice is to develop a wider and better understanding of the chosen research area. Some time the area might not be fully explored and need necessary information to be acquired prior to moving any further. It is also recommended to have a flavour of some related areas besides the chosen one. This information will be of great assistance both during a course of study and in a viva-voce examination. Please give sufficient room in here and do not rush otherwise effort might go in vain. It is in view of this, developing a finer understanding of a selected topic is taken as a key of success in a research program of study. Therefore, a researcher might need to aware of the area in general; challenges; and which one needs attention. It is good to have knowledge of some weaknesses within previously reported well known schemes rather then extracting the same from the unknown ones. Please remember that same weaknesses could use to analyze proposed or developed solution i.e. how developed solution has addressed them.
Please do not forget to prepare for a longer term by taking notes of any relevant points from the reported literature. These notes are useful when start drawing own thoughts. In addition, they add-up good knowledge space in a researcher mind and provide technical support which is needed especially when research findings are presented. In between, I must mention here some thing for those who join a PhD program after a Master. If you know your intentions of continuing with a PhD, please try to link dissertation project with a potential area of research of a future PhD program. In addition the sooner you learn academic writing the better.
I understand what have been done as a part of background research should be included as in the conclusion section. If you are a reader who have spend some good time in digging out selected area, review what have been noted down and I am confident that so many points will come up which could definitely add some solid contributions to this section. In essence, in a PhD program, different findings are concluded though not entirely but some how related to the main research area. These findings if not highlighted will not be counted. Not long ago, I received a review request of a Master level dissertation based on a secondary research. What I found were so many comments and suggestions in literature review sections which were otherwise missing from the final conclusions. I feel relating all those findings could make up a good conclusions section. What is needed? Incorporating those contributions, not some thing burdensome, is it?
