PESHAWAR (Online): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has expressed satisfaction over the quality of anti polio campaigns in 2017. He said “it is vital to sustain the stunning progress that FATA program has achieved”.
He appreciated the efforts of EOC, civil- political administration, agency health teams and particularly the frontline workers for keeping FATA polio free in 2017 and said “no case in FATA over the last ten months signifies the kind of quality work that Polio teams are doing in highly challenging situation.”
He urged the administration and Polio teams to ensure that May campaign maintains the rhythm and that no child is missed. Three days anti-polio campaign along with vitamin A is starting from today Monday May 15, 2017 in all FATA with support of law enforcing agencies and supervision of the political administration.
The campaign will continue from May 15, 2017 to May 17, 2017 followed by catch up of the missed children. During this round total of 1040861 children below the age of 5 years will be vaccinated with oral polio vaccine through 4272 vaccination teams, comprising of 3889 mobile 282 fixed and, 101 transit teams.
Each agency and FATA EOC has chalked out monitoring plans through which each step of the campaign would be duly monitored and supervised. Campaign as usual would be evaluated through independent and neutral monitors.
